Way out of my comfort zone.....

Yep a 5k mud run with 14 obstacles.
First off I am NOT a runner.  Never have really exercised until Feb. 2011 when I started the 17 day diet and  changed my life.  I saw the Mach 1 Corona Mud run a couple of months ago and decided to make it a goal.  Not sure why I wanted to do this but I did.  So I enlisted a couple of friends to join me on my adventure.
Michelle, Me and Krista
We arrived at the Corona airport and shortly after arriving we found some runners that we new.
Michelle, Matt, Beth, me, Krista and Robert
My nerves were going crazy,  I was scared to death!
On your mark, get set, GOOOOOO
Kent was my camera man and he tried to get pictures of everyone.
The others all took of running and left me and Michelle in there dust! We didn't care, my personal goal was to do my best and finish! Two obstacles (Mud pit and hay bale hurdles) down almost to the 3rd which was the cargo net.
The guy on the ground is who I followed up, I did NOT want to look like him!  So when I rounded the top, the net on the other side moves and I started to lose my balance.  I banged my wrist on the wood frame to prevent from looking like him.  I have a nice LARGE bruise on my wrist but I didn't fall!!  Shoot that is my only war wound from the whole run!  I think i am looking great!
After the cargo net we were to far for spectators to see us, we went through the tires, climbed a wall and through some tunnels before reaching these lovely monkey bars.  This is Beth on them now.  I am not sure if you can see how high they are but they were high.  Matter of fact before we got there 4 people had been loaded in an ambulance and taken to the hospital with injuries.  As I arrived the last ambulance was pulling away and the fire captain was walking to another guy who had hurt his shoulder.   At this time the Fire captain said he was shutting down the bars due to too many injuries.  I said " I'll be your first to go around it you want"?  Fire captain replied " Go around then"  I smiled and said "you don't have to tell me twice". =)  I was very happy about this.  I did NOT want to leave in an ambulance!
 Check out that form! HA!
Kent could see any more of the obstacles until the end.  So we have to fast forward to the finish line.  However, I had several more obstacles to do.  A rope swing over a mud pit, hurdles with a water truck spraying us with water as we climbed over them.  Balance beam over a mud pit with the water truck spraying us. Stomach crawl in the mud under a cargo net. I think there was a couple more. (14 total obstacles)
Krista and Robert in the final mud pit.  I think there time was around 47 minutes.
Here comes Michelle and myself.  Almost done.
Seriously I have to swim in this mud?  Yep, you sure do.  The guy yelled at me get down!  I think I called him a bastard or something and then went in.
 Oh yeah baby!
Ok, note to self never laugh while on your knees in a mud pit.
I ended up with a bit of mud on my teeth! Gross.
Making my daddy proud, representing the LAFD! =)
Last hill and the finish line less then 20 feet away!
Check out the mud running down my legs!
 Woot woot
Final time 56:50
I know you runners are laughing at my time but I am so proud of myself for not only entering the mud run but actually finishing it!
We are a muddy mess!  Off to the showers so we could ride home.
Ha!  Not a great picture of me.
 Me and Beth
I am so doing this again!  It was such a great feeling to finish. With your friends and family yelling and routing you on when you reach that last mud pit, well it was just so satisfying!
Thanks to my hubby for supporting my adventure and never saying anything negative about me doing this.  Your love and support means so much to me,  thank you, thank you, thank you!  I am sure you would have rather been doing something else besides standing in the hot sun for over and hour waiting for me!  I love you with all my heart!  You are amazing!!

Class Party

Wednesday June 1, 2011 was the second to the last day of school.
Amy's class had a party and a field day to which they played outside all day and in the afternoon they had water games.  Since I am off now I was able to actually go to a party at school and help out!  This was so fun.
When Hannah and I arrived the kids were still at recess, we (Mrs. Oliver and the parents) decided what games we are playing and who would be in charge of that game.  I was in charge of water hot potato.
So when the kids came back to the room, we had build your own ice cream sundae.
My girls waiting patiently for it to be their turn.

 Finally, they got them!
 Outside for water games.
So funny, Hannah was playing and then would come back climb in her stroller and sit and watch.  I think it was a safe place where she wouldn't get wet and the kids couldn't run her over.  There was a lot of craziness happening on this fun day!
I couldn't find Amy so I went looking for her, I found her and some friends eating the leftover cherries and stuff.  Look how wet she is!!
After the water shenanigans we had free play.  Hannah couldn't get to the swing fast enough.  Not sure why she insists on getting in the swing backwards but she does!
 Fun on the slide.
Amy and Zach, trying to get me with a water balloon.
Thanks Mrs. Oliver and Erin for putting on such a fun party and for allowing me to come and help!
This was a great 2nd grade class and we will miss everyone.

Memorial at the river

We had an amazing Memorial weekend at the river.
With great friends, great food and lots of fun.
I took Amy out of school early on Friday, we (Hannah, Amy and myself) headed to the river.  Kent was coming later after work.  After we arrived we unloaded the car, did our grocery shopping for the weekend, walked to the river to play and then headed to el Placio for dinner.
The three of us had a great time.
My sweet girls cooling of in the river.
Finally daddy arrived with our friends.  We visited for a bit, then they left for their hotel.
Saturday we hooked up early and headed to the lake. It was pretty windy but we powered through.
We found a beach to share with these guys.  We thought for sure they would leave when we unloaded. Nope, they were there for the long haul.   The momma had a very new baby with her.  The other 3 burros where males.  They taught our girls a crash course in sex ed or animal planet up close and personal.  It was crazy!
The males would get a little aggressive from time to time.
Here is the baby.  She wasn't looking very good and we decided to leave before we had another lesson in life  out on the water.
So we packed up and headed out into the wind and rough water.  T
he girls wanted to Knee board so they did.
 The they wanted to tube
So they did.  Here all 4 of them are on for a ride.
Hannah got a little nervous so she wanted to off.
After a full afternoon of boating and playing we headed in.  I cooked burgers at the river house and we hung out there. Right after our friends headed to their hotel, we had a visit from another family arrive.  The Leyva's came by for a visit. It was fun to visit with them too.
Sunday we knew it would be windy again, so we decided to head out on the river. Kent charged and purchased a new battery for the seadoo's and we headed out.  Spent a great day down in Needles at our Friend Marilyn's place. Her son Darren and his family was there too.  It was a great time.  We headed down to Pirates cove just to check things out and on our way back to Marilyn's we found our friends on a beach.  So we visited there as well.  Sad our goodbyes and headed back up river.  The wind was really going by then and the water was FREEZING.  I made a yummy dinner of Chicken burritos and we visited again for hours.  so fun, we laughed and laughed.
(No pictures from Saturday, I was busy driving the boat and just never had a chance to get it out of the bag).  Oh ya, I think I hit something on the river because the prop has a little ding in it.  Kent said no big deal he thinks he can repair it.

Monday = The most BEAUTIFUL day on the water.
No Windy, I mean absolutely NONE, ZIP, ZERO.
No one on the water either.  they must have all been hung over or maybe heading home.
We actually found a beach area on near the dam, we hung out and the girls climbed the mountain, tubed, and water skied.
If you look closely I actually skied too.  We only had the kids skis and I was in the water with the girls helping them, so I asked Kent to take the bar off the front and i slipped my feet in and net thing I was yelling hit it and up I went.  I was laughing so hard and leaned back to much and fell.  I also tried to get up on one ski and was not able too.  My goal this summer is to get up on a single!!!
I was so proud of the girls, they really did great!!

We also came across this.  Looks like someone was going to fast and hit something pretty hard and sunk the boat.
Weird to have it anchored right around the corner from us.  I hope no one was hurt.

Ok thats it for now, I have more cute pictures to post. I'll be back tomorrow with some more.

Strawberry Festival

Kent is working in Ventura, so Saturday we went to the Strawberry Festival in Oxnard.  If you park and ride its free but if you park at the festival its 10 bucks.  So we arrived at the mall to catch our bus.  Hannah was so excited to ride a bus.
Not just any bus, it was a school bus!!
We followed the bus into the parking lot and I showed the girls what our ride was and this is the reaction I got.
Oh gosh, Hannah could hardly contain her excitement.
She yelled over to us " I don't have to sit in a car seat and I don't have a seatbelt on".
 Amy wanted strawberry shortcake.
The rides where included in the cost of getting in, totally sucked because the wait for a ride was ridiculous.  So they rode the train, can you see how excited Amy was?
We walked around to all the venders, but it was so crowded I couldn't stand it anymore.  They had too many people in a small area.  So I bought my strawberries and we got the heck out.  Rode the bus back to the car.  Which for Hannah was better then any ride at the festival.

As we headed home, I first tried to stop by the Weitzman's.  I use to be their nanny a long time ago.  However, they were about to leave.  So I will set up a time to go back just to see them!

As we were approaching Burbank, we decided to detour and see Nana.  we quickly jumped off the freeway and arrived at her living facility.  We searched high and low for this woman!  She has so many friends and does so much stuff everyday.  We finally found her in the dinning room with her friends.  She was so surprised to see us. we asked if she had ordered dinner.  She didn't remember and none of her friends seem to know either.  So she hoped up from the table and we walked to her room to get her purse.  The girls were so excited to spend sometime with nana great!
We asked what she felt like and he said a burger sounded good. She was in luck!  Fuddruckers right down the street!  The girls insisted on sitting on either side of Nana great!
Here we are waiting for our salads and NOT burgers. Boo for the diet!
Back to Nana's place.  I take a picture of the girls running in the garage every time we go.
Look how big my baby looks. =(
Back to her room to visit before heading home.  Hannah kept telling Nana she liked her new bed.  Nana kept telling Hannah she liked it too.  So cute.
 Here we all are.
What a great day with family!

OMG (Oh my gosh) so delish recipes

Pizza-fied Chicken
You can find this recipe in Hungrygirl 1-2-3 page 30
Basically, it is pizza but the crust is chicken.  So yummy.  I am not kidding tasted like pizza!
With only 282 calories per chicken.
(There is 3 servings in this picture, I didn't put the veggies on one for the kids. The serving was huge.)
 Backyard BBQ beef cups
You can find this recipe in Hungrygirl 1-2-3, page 96
So yummy, tasted like little mini BBQ burgers.
With only 133 calories per cup, I went ahead and ate two!
 Side picture of the cups.
(I did substitute the ground beef for ground turkey & I added a sprinkle of Mozzarella cheese to the top).
If any of you don't have this cookbook and you want the recipe, let me know I will type it out.
Really, I have only had 1 recipe so far that I crossed out in my cookbook and wrote DISGUSTING across it.  Otherwise, everything is really amazing and most are pretty easy to make after working all day. ;)

Zac Brown Band

Kent bought me tickets to see Zac Brown Band for Mother's day.  The concert was last Saturday night at the Hollywood Bowl.  My friend Michelle watched both girls for us.  We went to dinner at Elephant Bar and then headed to the concert.  It was pretty cold out but it was still fun.  I didn't take my camera because I was afraid they would make me leave in the car.  However, I saw lots of people with them.  Anyway it was great concert and just fun to get out with my hubby!
