BEWARE this post is graphic....

The big day is here....
Here is me and Amy waiting to get our cast and bandage off and stitches removed.

Amy's cast being cut off.
Amy laughing because it tickles.
Now cutting off the cotton.
The nurse checking the incision.
Now its my turn....
Freedom! YEAH!
Here is both incisions
Amy's thumb again
Removing my stitches.  I asked the nurse if it made her nervous taking pictures while she was working on us.  She said yes, so I kept on clicking.
Ahh, no stitches.
Oops, I had a burning sensation  because I used my arm to much.  Now I can't!
Amy leaves with a band-aid.

Easter Day

Today is Easter Day and what a day we had!  We got up and went to church All of us, yes that means Rick too. Then we went to breakfast and after that we came home and got things ready to go to my uncle and aunts house in Pasadena.  Here are a few pictures from the day.  I had more to upload but for some reason I keep getting an error.

Hannah was so cute, Kent put her in the living room and she spotted her basket right away.  She crawled over to it and started taking stuff out.
Amy had to look a bit harder for her basket, but found it.
Rick had to look really hard, but in the end Amy found it for him.
My crazy niece Kilee.
Most beautiful women in the world, Nana!
Princess Amy and Hannah.
My cousin Landon, isn't he sweet?
Hannah get down off that pole!
A little photoshop.  She is just so precious.

T'was the night before Easter...

Well, I was trying to write a poem, but it just didn't work.  So here we are dyeing easter eggs.  Grandma and grandpa stopped by for a visit with some gifts for us.  So they got to partake in the festivities.  Hannah was watching every move Amy made and you could see in her face she wanted a part of the action.

The gang.
Oh no, daddy and grandpa gave Hannah an egg.  She was swinging it around, it was so funny. I should have video taped it.
Grandpa was so brave he helped Hannah drop the egg into the dye.  You can tell by Kent's face he was waiting for the dye to splash all over the place.
Who knew Kent likes to decorate eggs?
I really need to learn how to use my camera so I could get a better picture of the dyed eggs.
Isn't she cute?  She did such a great job.  I am so amazed at how ell she has done with everything using only her left hand.

Week Recap.....

No Pictures this post,  just a lot of talk... This is how my week went:

Monday: First day home alone with girls after having surgery on my wrist.  Hannah got up extra early, ugh.  So I managed to get out of bed go into her room, I made her stand up so I am able to pick her up one handed.  I grab her under her one armpit and fling her to my hip.  Then I get her diaper changed and a bottle and she poops.  Great now I have to fling her again to my hip carry her to the changing table and attempt a one handed poopy  diaper change to which she reached down and grabbed herself in the midst of changing and gets poop on her hand.  Double ugh. Finally get that done and she took a long nap on me, because that is easier then trying to get her into her crib.  Have you ever laid a sleeping baby in her crib on her belly one handed?  Not so easy!  Oh yeah, in between all of that I am helping Amy, with breakfast, lunch and anything else she has requested. Then my cleaning lady came, so we are now stuck in the living room while she cleans the back of the house and then when she comes to the living room we are stuck in the bedroom.  I love her, but I hate to be home when she is here and it was way to much work to get all of us loaded in a car and go somewhere for a few hours.  Triplet ugh.  Then Kaiser finally called me back to set up our post-op appointments and they said 4/21/09 was the soonest appt. they had. What I say?  I have to wait 19 days to have the stiches out? She said yes!  I have had a lot of surgeries and NEVER have I waited 19 days to see the doctor after surgery as well as to remove stitches. Now, I am not only tired but stressed out.  Finally, Kent got home and I thought yeah help!  Well, lets just say that didn't happen and leave it at that.

Tuesday: Back to work, got everyone to the car on time but when it came to buckling the carseat, well lets just say Hannah had 2 of the 3 buckles done.  Between my right hand and Amy's left hand that is all we can do.  Lucky for me, when I pulled up to Lauren's house her husband Paul was outside and got Hannah out for me.  Work went okay, I had more obstacles then I thought.  I couldn't even open the mail.  My friend Mariella stepped up and really helped me get through the day. Now I think about going home and getting to rest a bit.  PIPE DREAM;  Kent and Rick are working out of town and won't be home tonight. UUGGHH.  I thought I just had surgery and was suppose to rest.  I guess its true a mothers work is never done and no rest for the weary.  so I did the best thing ever and called for back up.  Grandma, I said please come help me and she did!  She got the bottles washed and the girls in bed.  Life saver!!!  She wrapped my arm so I could shower and Amy helped with the shower and when I say helped she HELPED.  Okay so I haven't been able to shave under my right arm, so I gave my 5 year old the razor and said take this and do this  for mommy.  She did a pretty good job. She didn't even cut me! Thank goodness.

Wednesday:  Grandma came over at 7 and buckled Hannah safely into her carseat for me.  Now ready for the second day of work.  That was better then the day before, again thanks to Mariella for stepping up.  Decided to go home for lunch, big mistake everything takes so long with one hand.  So as I dazed into the fridge hungry, tired and arm a achin' I pulled out a small watermelon laid it on the counter got out the butcher knife and gave it a whack!  I started laughing to my self cause I must have looked like Gallagher with the sludge hammer. So I proceeded to eat half a watermelon with a spoon for lunch.  Finally, the day is over and heading to get the girls.  Lauren helped get the girls all in the car and Hannah buckled safely.  I head home.  Kent calls and says he and Rick are not going to be home because they are doing a side job. I almost had a nervous breakdown.  Another night of being by myself. I am never going to heal.  So I decided to call grandma ( not an easy task)  While driving home one handed, fighting back tears, dialing the cell phone and steering with my knee I made the call.  I must have an angel on my shoulder.  Anyway, Grandma to the rescue.  she gave both girls a bath and to bed again.  THANK YOU GRANDMA!  Now I am ready to shower, vicodin and bed again for me.

Thursday: Hallelujah, I got through all the normal morning stuff off to work and decided to have lunch with the girls rather then go home. Much better decision.  Call Kent he has to go back to the side job again tonight. UUGGHH!  Anyway, he did come home first had dinner to which I cooked one handed.  Kent made the salad and he got Amy in jammies and off he went.  I sit down in the rocker and a commercial comes on with strawberries, CRAP, I bought strawberries today at work and they are still there!  I can't leave them, they will never last until Tuesday.  So I loaded the girls in the car (Hannah only buckled part way) and off I went back to work.  Lucky for me Kent's side job is next to my work, so I left the girls in the car and he talked to them while I ran in to get the strawberries and back home we go.  Those strawberries better be the best strawberries I have ever had.  Now its time for Hannah to get in jammies, I have never done this job one handed and it was not easy.  Now my wrist is throbbing and there is nothing I can do about it.  Made a bottle and she fell asleep on me.  Just then Rick and Nicole walk in the door. "Hurray your home" I yelled, please put Hannah in her crib! Rick did. Then I put Amy in her bed and snuggled a bit. Ahhh, now its time for me to rest....

Friday:  I know its only the a.m. and I have a lot to do, but so far my morning is good. Both girls slept in. I was able to shower and just staying home today and trying to get through the laundry.  Amy has been helping so we are making a dent.  Oh yeah, I keep my arm up and I can smell this musty funny smell, I keeping on thinking want is that?  Its me! my cast/bandage smells like must!  Are you sure its healthy to wait 19 days????

Thanks for reading.  Hope you get some laughter out of my pain!

Hannah

So while Kent was suppose to be watching Hannah while I rested, she got into Amys markers and drew on her face, hand and legs.

Daddy bought Hannah a new toy, she is helping him put it together.
I don't think she likes it!
Well, maybe it's ok.

Surgery Day

Surgery is done and over, here is Amy waiting to go into the OR.  She was so brave the Dr.s and nurses all said she did better then some adults.  We are so proud of her.

Here I am all prepped and waiting for Amy's surgery to be done so they could wheel me into the OR.  Kent just jumped bed to bed.
I didn't even know that Kent took this picture of me just out of surgery.
Amy and myself in recovery.  So strange to have us both there.
The princess, sticking her tongue out at daddy.
Yea, home at last.  What a trooper.
Matching casts, just opposite arms.

Good bye trigger thumb

Well tomorrow is the BIG day,  Amy and I are both having surgery.  Amy's surgery will correct the trigger thumb on her right hand.  You can see in this picture that her left thumb fully extends but her right thumb is always bent forward.  She can never fully extend it.  After tomorrow she will be able to hitchhike with either thumb!  Amy's surgery is at 7:30 a.m. and will last approximately 15 minutes.  They will put her to sleep and when she wakes up she will be in a cast and have a few sutures.  Keep her in your thoughts and prayers that all goes smoothly.

Then its my turn.  I tried to take a picture of my wrist but it just doesn't look like much.   Anyway,  I have tendonitis and a cyst on my left wrist.  So they will repair the tendons and remove the cyst.  My surgery will take place after Amy's probably mid morning.  Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers that my surgery goes smoothly as well.
MOST importantly, keep Kent in your thoughts and prayers since the poor guy has to take care of both of us  and Hannah too.  I'm sure he will recruit Rick to help as well.
